Very harsh parenting can affect a child's archievement educationally according to a Dr. in psychology Rochelle Hentges who graduated from Pittsburgh university.
From the study in the journal "child's" development. It have been discovered that, been too harsh by hitting, yelling and using other physical or verbal threats as punishment, has a very possibility of having a very bad influence on a child's ability to succeed academically and otherwise.
The study was carried out by a team of her and her colleagues, which involved up-to 1,500 students in a large county in Maryland over a period of 9 year old, right from their sevenyh grade until when they reach there three years after the students were ready to graduate from high school. All the students were offered with questionnaire and were asked if their parents yelled at them, hit them and maybe shoved them to get a sense of how much verbal or physical aggression they do experience from their parents. They were as well asked about their sex life and delinquency such as shoplifting.
The percentage of children who said that they experienced very had and harsh parenting were more likely to say that by the time they reached their ninth grade that they will prefer the company of their peers than that of their parents rules or doing home work.
So as a result of this kids became more likely to endulge in more risky behaviors by the time they reached their 11th grade, which might include more sexual activity for girls and hitting and stealing for boys. These acts usually makes students to drop out of school.
